What Are Your "Dry Bones"?

Hello! Good day! We’re meditating in the book of Ezekiel.

4Again he said unto me, Prophesy upon these bones, and say unto them, O ye dry bones, hear the word of the Lord. 5Thus saith the Lord God unto these bones; Behold, I will cause breath to enter into you, and ye shall live: 6And I will lay sinews upon you, and will bring up flesh upon you, and cover you with skin, and put breath in you, and ye shall live; and ye shall know that I am the Lord. 7So I prophesied as I was commanded: and as I prophesied, there was a noise, and behold a shaking, and the bones came together, bone to his bone. 8And when I beheld, lo, the sinews and the flesh came up upon them, and the skin covered them above: but there was no breath in them. (Ezekiel 37:4-8 KJV)

“Dry bones” can represent things that used to be alive but are now dead, such as:

• “Lost causes” such as dead or broken relationships;

• Dead feelings (emotions);

• Dead, dry marriages;

• Injured, wounded people who have dried up spiritually because of their past hurts;

• Those who have been so abused and injured in life that it has caused them to have mental, emotional, and/or social dysfunction.

The Lord impressed me that we can prophesy to the “dead” things in our lives and families by following the steps outlined in Ezekiel. Say:

1. Hear the Word of the Lord! Use Scripture passages to decree over them, as the Holy Spirit of God leads you. Speak blessings upon them.

2. Because the Lord said, “Ye shall live,” speak LIFE unto those things. Call forth the things that do not exist as though they do.

3. After the bones reassembled and connected, and the flesh and skin came upon them, they still needed breath (life in them). Invite the Holy Spirit to breathe on these slain things or people and to infuse these them with His life.

4. The “bones” may answer, “Our bones are dry, our hope is lost, and we ourselves are cut off!” Reply something like this, “The Lord has opened your graves, and caused you to come up from them. He has caused you to return to the land of promise and blessings. The Lord has put His Spirit in you, and you now live. He has placed you in your own land—your own inheritance. The Lord has performed it. There is nothing too hard for the Lord. (Gen. 18:14; Matt. 19:26)”

Allow the Holy Spirit to tailor this to fit each situation in your life. Use those Bible passages that the Lord brings to your remembrance, and quickens to your heart. Speak LIFE and blessings to the “dry bones” in your past. Minister the healing balm of God’s Word to the wounded and hopeless people in your life and acquaintance.

The Lord has spoken His Word, and He has performed it entirely. (Joshua 23:14) This is our victory!
